 Yingkou, with the vast Bohai Sea to its west and northeast China at its rear, is a bright pearl inlaid on the northeastern shore of Bohai Liaoding Gulf. As one of the seven major river systems in China, the Da Liaohe River passes through the city to pour into the sea.
Yingkou covers an area of 5,402 square km, with 96 km of coastline, and it has a total population of 2.3 million. It is situated in the central part of Northeast Asia, holding the most important position in the Bohai Sea Economic Rim, and is an important coastal open city closest to the sea in northeast China.
