Yingkou is
rich in natural resources. Significant deposits of 39 kinds of minerals
have been verified. Yingkou leads China in the reserves of talcum
and borax. The reserves of magnesite account for 46 percent of the
national total, and the sales of Yingkou’s refractory materials
contribute 52 percent of the national total, making the city China’s
largest magnesium materials production base.
Yingkou
is also rich in land and power resources. Some 80 square km of land
can be exploited for industrial purposes; its installed generating
capacity is 750,000 Kwh. The second phase of the Huaneng Yingkou
Power Plant has an installed generating capacity of 1.2 million
Kwh.
Yingkou has 40 reservoirs and 112 rivers, giving it plentiful water
reserves. Its Xingli Reservoir holds 200 million cubic meters of
water, and has a daily water supply capacity of some 600,000 tons.
